According to a report in Android Police, Google has rolled the feature to Google Maps. It is worth adding that the PiP mode reached Google Maps in the v9.59 but is now updated in the v9.60 with bug fixes.
The updated PiP mode in the Google Maps v9.60 now works with the navigation mode as well. It shows a smaller window at the corner of the screen while the users are into their trip. The window stays at the corner of the screen while using other apps in the background. The windows shows the turn indicator, name of the road and the estimated time when users should reach their destination.
Another feature found is that Google Maps could soon let users submit food reviews and photos. Users will be able to share what they ordered, review it and rate it. They will also be able to add photos.
While the PiP mode is just one of the upcoming features in the Android 8.0 Oreo, some of the other features that the OS version will include are notification dots, smart text selection, system optimisation, improved battery life, pinning app shortcuts, redesigned emojis and adaptive icons.
We can expect the upcoming Pixel smartphones to run Android O out of the box. However, some OEMs have revealed a few of of their devices that will get the version. OnePlus has already said its OnePlus 3, 3T will get Android O. Asus too has confirmed the same for its smartphones. We can expect other flagship smartphones launched this year to get Android O as well.
